  • Chenhong Xu (Chen)

    Chen works with anxiety, phobia, depression, obsessive compulsive traits, trauma, autism spectrum, attention deficits, chronic pain/fatigue, impulsivity and emotional regulation difficulties. Clients also seek Chen’s help in navigating their relationship problems, family conflicts, parenting struggles, life transitions or existential doubts.

    Chen integrates Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy and Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). Her strengths are in helping clients change their habitual cognitive and relational patterns, and providing clients with corrective emotional experiences. Her practice is culturally sensitive, feedback informed and evidence based.

    Availability: 10am-8pm Thursday Friday

    Summer has experience working with young people, families, and adults across community, public mental health and private practice settings. She works with anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, and people who experience chronic health or adjustment problems. She is interested in supporting people who are going through life transitions, relationship struggles, or those with difficulties regulating their emotions.

    “I value collaboration, empowerment and diversity. My role is to create a safe space where clients can build a trusting therapeutic relationship with me to process healing. I seek to explore and develop a shared understanding of my client’s difficulties, relevant past experiences, so I can help my clients develop further insight into their internal belief systems, strengths, and values.”

    Summer’s approach is holistic, compassionate, culturally sensitive. She tailors techniques to individual needs from evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Schema-informed CBT. When working with people who have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Summer uses Cognitive Processing Therapy.

    Ruijiao Du (Rachel)

    Fees: $150 (50 minutes), not eligible for Medicare or private health insurance rebates, reduced fee available with evidence of financial hardship
    Availability: 6-8pm weekdays, 1-5pm Saturday, 10-5pm Sunday

    In addition to the two year Master of Counselling degree in Australia, Rachel has also completed a two-year counselling training program in China and three years of specialised training in psychodynamic psychotherapy by Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute. She has developed a strong interest in working with children and their families informed by her solid psychodynamic training.

    Psychodynamic therapy is a unique form of psychotherapy that fosters personal growth and liberation from unsatisfying or painful patterns of living.

    “I believe that by working together to understand the meanings behind our emotional experiences, thoughts, dreams, memories, fantasies, and bodily sensations, we can create a path to develop a more resilient sense of self, which enables our capacities to work, love and create.

    Rachel has experience in psychiatric care centre, private practice and primary schools. She works with adult clients who are struggling with their relationships, emotion regulations, and life transitions. Her approach working with children is creative, playful and tailored to the child’s developmental needs within the social and family context.
