Maxi is an experienced counsellor (Australian Counselling Association registered Level 3 Counsellor) and psychosexual therapist, specialising in relationship counselling and sex therapy. He works with individuals and couples to deepen self-understanding, foster curiosity, and build self-compassion. In addition to therapy, Maxi also provides education for individuals, couples, and parents who have questions or concerns around sex, intimacy, and gender-related topics.

“No one teaches us how to build a healthy relationship or navigate intimacy. Many of us learn from what we see around us, which isn’t always helpful. Relationships require trust, respect, and honest communication. Talking about needs and boundaries can be hard—that’s where I can step in to help. I’m not here to judge; there’s no right or wrong in relationships. I’m here to support you in understanding each other, fostering connection, and building a relationship that truly works for you both. Remember, seeking support isn’t a weakness; it’s a step toward deeper, healthier intimacy.”

Maxi’s approach is trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and inclusive. He provides a non-judgemental space for clients from diverse backgrounds and identities, including LGBTQ+, kink, fetish, and polyamorous communities. His work is neurodiversity-affirming, recognising and celebrating the unique strengths of neurodivergent individuals (such as those with Autism and ADHD), rather than viewing differences through a pathologising lens.

Maxi holds a Master’s degree in Counselling from Australia and is a registered member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA). He has also completed a postgraduate degree in Psychosexual Therapy, a specialised program designed for healthcare professionals working in sexual health. In addition, he is trained in a range of therapeutic approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples, Gottman Couple Therapy, and Gottman Psychosexual Therapy.

Maxi works with a wide range of clients—from young couples to retirees, across stages from dating and engagement to marriage, separation, and divorce. He supports clients in navigating emotional and sexual challenges, building healthier communication, and fostering deeper connection.

Having grown up in an Asian cultural background where sex and sexuality were often considered taboo, Maxi understands how complex identity exploration can be. His personal and professional journey informs his passion for creating a safe, inclusive, and affirming space where clients feel respected and supported.

Outside his therapy work, Maxi is actively involved in the professional community as the Secretary of the Australian Chinese Psychological Practitioners Association. He volunteers his time to create psychoeducational resources, connect mental health professionals across disciplines, and engage in public education initiatives promoting psychological and sexual health.
