Summer is a warm, compassionate, and highly skilled Clinical Psychologist who brings both expertise and genuine empathy to every client relationship. After completing an academic Master’s degree in Health Psychology at the University of Auckland in New Zealand—where she explored mind–body connections such as chronic pain management, sleep disorders, perinatal mental health, and psychological support for serious illness—she earned her Master’s in Clinical Psychology from the University of Melbourne and became a fully registered Clinical Psychologist in Australia.
Summer has experience working with young people, families, and adults across community services, public mental health, and private practice settings. She works with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, and chronic health or adjustment problems. She is passionate about supporting individuals through life transitions, relationship struggles, and difficulties with emotional regulation.
Throughout her practice, Summer has developed a specialisation in the treatment of eating disorders—a complex area requiring long-term intervention and family involvement. She is approved to deliver the Medicare Eating Disorder Treatment Plan, which provides eligible clients with up to 40 subsidised sessions per year. Her calm patience and collaborative style make her especially effective in working with adolescents and their families as they navigate co-occurring challenges like anxiety and depression.
Summer is also trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), an evidence-based treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) recommended by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the World Health Organization. CPT helps individuals reframe negative thought patterns formed after trauma and supports their recovery journey.
Deepening her integrative practice, Summer is currently training to become a certified Schema Therapist. Schema Therapy, developed by Dr. Jeffrey Young, combines cognitive-behavioral, attachment, gestalt, and psychodynamic approaches to help clients identify and heal deeply rooted patterns that originated in early life. Through this work, clients can address unmet emotional needs, break free from self-defeating cycles, and create lasting change.
Summer’s approach is holistic, compassionate, and culturally sensitive. She tailors her interventions to meet each individual’s needs, drawing on evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and Schema-informed CBT. She emphasizes both rigorous assessment and deep emotional exploration to ensure care that is both clinically sound and personally meaningful.
“I value collaboration, empowerment, and diversity. My role is to create a safe space where clients can build a trusting therapeutic relationship with me to heal. I seek to explore a shared understanding of my client’s difficulties and relevant past experiences, so I can help my clients develop insight into their internal belief systems, strengths, and values.”
Known for her flexibility, empathy, and insight, Summer is committed to providing evidence-based care that honours each client’s unique journey and complexity.
